The mission of this Committee is to develop and document processes and procedures to ensure effective communications between clergy, committees, congregation and community. This includes processes for passing information, reports, postings, mailing and other electronic systems. The main objective of this committee is to constantly evaluate and improve our communication both internally and externally.
The subcommittees include: Information Technology and Telecommunications, Public Relations, Publications, Communications Process Improvement and the Website.
The specific responsibilities of the Committee are:
The Committee develops and provides educational programs to teach the Word of God, increase faith, and obtain a deeper understanding of our religion for children, youth and adults.
The subcommittees include: Adult Forum and Spiritual Enrichment.
This Committee’s mission is to spread the Word of God, lead people to Christ and to provide information about St. Michael’s to the surrounding communities.
Some of its projects include: Greeters at Sunday Services, name tags, photo board, “Getting to Know You” segment in The Guardian (our newsletter); tri-fold brochures for guests letters to members who miss services, “care packages” for our college students away from home, local parades, brochures to McKendree College students and neighborhood canvassing.
Promotes the fellowship of the church through hospitality functions and adult social groups.
The subcommittees are: Hospitality, Men’s Group, Women’s Group, Fellowship Groups and Savvis Center Volunteers.
The Committee coordinates and schedules an adult social calendar, develop a variety of social events including the Outdoor Picnic, Progressive Dinners, Fellowship Group Gatherings, Trivia Nights, and Wine Tasting Parties.
Oversees the financial transactions of the church to include, but not limited to, checking accounts, investment accounts, the budget development at least annually, and make recommendations, if necessary, on investments for the church’s financial needs. It ensures an annual review is accomplished on the church’s financial records.
The subcommittees are: Budget, Counters for the offerings and Task Force.
This Committee is responsible for setting up, cleaning and decorating the parish hall for coffee hours, Bishop’s Homecomings, birthdays, weddings, funerals, and potlucks.
The Committee ensures that the kitchen and table supplies are purchased and stored for church groups to use. These social events encourage church members to welcome newcomers and to get to know each other better - contributing to a sense of family within the congregation.
Provides for the personal and spiritual needs of the congregation; The subcommittees include: the Prayer Chain and Family Support.
Provides for the maintenance, improvements and present and future use of the church facilities, property and grounds;
The subcommittees are: Grounds, Building Improvements, Maintenance and Repair, Future Plans and Housekeeping.
Promotes personal involvement in church activities through time, talent and financial contributions;
This Committee:
The Worship Committee is significant in marking the continued growth of our congregation and quality of our Worship Services. We are an active committee with representation for the major areas associated with the worship service, music, acolytes, lay readers, altar guild, lectors, greeters and ushers. We have a regular Wednesday evening Healing Service with the Eucharist.
Provides for the spiritual growth of the young people of the congregation through participation in fellowship groups, specific activities and diocesan events. Click here to view the Youth and Children page
