There are a total of eight (8) stained glass windows in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (six (6) are in the nave, and one (1) each in the sanctuary and narthex; all handmade by our parishioners, called “The St. Michael’s Glass Company.”
The most striking, a six foot diameter rosette window over the altar depicts our own design of the St. Michael’s cross and contains 358 pieces of stained glass.
The
seven (7) side windows all carry the same theme, each with a different Christian
symbol. Each has a small plaque explaining its significance. These side windows
vary from 216 to 268 individual hand-cut pieces of glass. In total, there are
2,107 pieces of glass in the windows. The company has also made small glass sun catchers in the form of the Episcopal Church shield. Through the sale of several sun catchers, the Church paid for the church windows. The total project lasted three and a half years.
